Description : As part of the DBT sponsored Mycorrhiza Network Programme, TERI organized a one-day workshop on the 'Role of Mycorrhiza in Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry' in TERI, New Delhi on March 22, 2017. The event was sponsored by the Science & Engineering Research Board and the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
The workshop started with the opening remarks by Mr Prabir Sengupta, Distinguished Fellow & Director, Knowledge Management, TERI followed by Dr Alok Adholeya, Honorary Advisor & Senior Director, Sustainable Agriculture and Dr T Madhan Mohan, Adviser, Department of Biotechnology, Govt of India delivering the keynote and inaugural address respectively.
The objective of the workshop was to familiarize the participants with the mycorrhiza fungi and their application including technology; procedures involved in the production of mycorrhizal inoculum and their utility as biofertilizer; and application of mycorrhizal inoculum in agriculture and forestry.
The panel of experts included Prof C Manoharachary, NASI Senior Scientist; Prof D J Bagyaraj, INSA Hon Scientist; Prof B F Rodrigues, University of Goa; Prof Rupam Kapoor, University of Delhi, Dr Reena Singh, Fellow & Area Convenor, Centre for Mycorrhizal Research, Sustainable Agriculture Division, TERI.
The workshop witnessed the participation of around 80 people from industrial, agricultural and academic institutions, as well as farmers, entrepreneurs and people from the research fraternity from all over India.
