Abstracts |
A study was conducted during kharif of 2001-02 in Raichur, Karnataka, India, to determine the effect of crop density and phosphorus management on the seed yield and yield attributes of Sesbania aculeata. Treatments comprised: three crop densities (low (13 333 plants/ha), medium (20 000 plants/ha) and high (40 000 plants/ha)), four P rates without vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza (VAM; 0, 60, 80 and 100 kg P/ha) and three P rates with VAM inoculation (60, 90 and 100 kg/ha). The number of seeds per pod, pod length and seed yield increased as the crop density increased. The number of pods per plant and 100-seed weight decreased as the crop density increased. The number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, pod length, 100-seed weight and seed yield increased as the P fertilizer rate increased without VAM inoculation. As the rate of the P fertilizer with VAM inoculation increased, the number of pods per plant, seeds per pod, pod length, 100-seed weight and seed yield decreased. |
