Abstracts |
A study was conducted to evaluate the importance of the mycorrhizas in the distribution of tree species and understand the association between mycorrhizas and soil fertility in the cerrado region (Goias, Brazil). Two communities were analysed: cerrado sensu stricto on dystrophic soils and semi-deciduous forest on eutrophic soils. Results showed that the communities recorded an average of 16.6% and 8.3% mycorrhizal colonization, respectively. The densities of morphotypes of mushrooms and spores were also higher in the dystrophic soil. The differences among these values were attributed to the chemical and physical-hydrological characteristics of the soils and floristic structure of the communities. Results indicated that the high soil fertility and soil physical-hydrological properties of the semi-deciduous forest might have contributed to the low mycorrhizal colonization. |
