Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in the soil may establish an association with plant roots (mycorrhiza) which enhances nutrient absorption by the plants and increases the effects of applied inputs on plant growth. To take advantage of this association, it is recommended to increase and diversify the fungi in soil, particularly where fungal population is generally low, such as in cerrado soils. Crop rotation is an agronomic practice that improves the propagation of AMF in the soil, and stimulates mycorrhizal establishment and plant growth. An adequate rotational sequence for improving mycorrhizal formation requires the use of mycorrhizal dependent plants. A table indicating the percentage of mycorrhizal dependency of different plants, is presented. |
