Studies were conducted at Nauni, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, India on 16-year-old tree of olive cv. Frontoio during 1999-2000. The treatments consisted of standard dose of NPK (750:500:500/tree); 3/4, 2/3 and 1/2 dose of N + full dose of P + Azotobacter chroococcum A-41 or Azospirillum brasilense at 20 g/tree; 3/4, 2/3 and 1/2 dose of P + full dose of N + vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza (VAM) at 200 g/tree. Application of 560 g N + Azotobacter + 500 g of P and 500 g of K/tree and 375 g of P + VAM + 750 g N + 500 g K/tree enhanced foliar N and P and maintained the optimum levels of K, Ca and Mg. These treatments also improved the availability of organic matter, N and P by soil enrichment.. |
