A field study was conducted during rabi 2000/01 at Raipur, Madhya Pradesh, India, to evaluate the carry-over effect of kharif applied bio-inoculants on the growth parameters and yield attributes of rabi lathyrus (Lathyrus sativus) under rice-lathyrus relay cropping system on Alfisols. The results indicated that the carry-over effect of 60:40:30 kg NPK/ha + phosphate solubilizing bacterium + vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza + Azospirillum + FYM at 5t ha-1 recorded the highest values for plant height, dry matter accumulation and effective nodules per plant at 50 days after sowing (35.97 cm, 8.503 g/plant and 10.22, respectively) and plant height and pods per plant at harvest (62.50 cm and 29.44, respectively). The yield of succeeding Lathyrus was significantly increased due to the carry-over effect of integrated use of chemical fertilizer and bio-inoculants along with FYM (seed and straw yields of 15.66 and 17.98 q/ha, respectively) compared with the recommended dose of NPK (11.03 and 12.66 q/ha, respectively).. |
