Effect of artificial inoculations of AM fungi and other bioinoculants like Rhizobium, Azotobacter and PSB singly and in combination on the growth of nursery seedlings of two agroforestry tree species viz., Sesbania grandiflora and Pongamia pinnata was investigated. AM colonization and resting spore population showed an increasing trend till the age of 180 days. Dual inoculations were found to be superior for both AM colonization and biomass production. Rhizobium inoculation in combination with mycorrhizae helped in better uptake of phosphorus than mycorrhizae alone. Among different AM fungi Glomus fasciculatum formed better colonization and induced more growth. However, a mixer of different AM fungi was found to be better inoculum than the individual AM fungi. |
