Abstracts |
In vitro raised plantlets of Terminalia bellerica were biotized using an endosymbiotic root fungus Piriformospora indica during their hardening and acclimatization. Improved overall growth and higher rate of survival were observed with colonized plantlets. The fungus colonized in more than 80% of inoculated plantlets and about 90% of such plantlets showed survival in the greenhouse and subsequent under nursery shed. Colonization of fungus also promoted root growth, increased biomass and total chlorophyll content in inoculated plantlets. The study demonstrated the potential of P. indica as a biopriming agent for achieving better growth and survival of tissue culture raised plantlets. |
