Abstracts |
Sixteen isolates of ectomycorrhizal fungi (viz., Amanita murina, Hysterangium incarceratum, Laccaria fraterna, Laccaria laccata, Lactarius controversus, Paxillus involutus, Pisolithus tinctorius, Scleroderma flavidum, S. cepa and S. verrucosum) were used to determine the optimum pH that gives maximum growth of ectomycorrhizal fungi. These isolates were selected on the basis of their host specificity from the Centre of Mycorrhizal Collection, TERI, New Delhi, India. Out of the 16 isolates tested, six have good growth in acidic pH (4.0-5.0), another six in moderately acidic pH (5.7-6.0), two have shown good growth in physiological pH ranging from 4.0 to 6.0, and another two in alkaline pH (7.0-10.0). Overall, maximum shift for the entire pH range was recorded in Paxillus involutus. |
