Abstracts |
Results are given of experiments on the influence of mycorrhiza on the root and shoot development of olive cv. Nocellara Etnea and Nocellara del Belice, propagated either in vitro or in mist. The cuttings were transplanted into autoclaved soil +or- the addition of mycorrhizal inoculum, and shoot lengths were measured 3, 5 and 7 months after transplanting. The presence of the mycorrhiza clearly promoted shoot growth and root development, with Glomus viscosum proving more effective than the commercial preparation "Biorize". The natural presence of Gigaspora sp. in non- sterilized soil also had a beneficial effect. |
