Abstracts |
Field experiments were conducted during 2002 and 2003 at the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Cuba, on red Ferralitic soil (Udic Rhodustalfs) to investigate the effectiveness of the mycorrhiza-rhizobacteria (Glomus clarum-Azospirillum brasilense) co-inoculation on growth, development, yield and colonization in tomato. The treatments comprised inoculation and/or co-inoculation with mycorrhizas and rhizobacteria, under different nitrogen fertilizer dosages. Results showed a positive effect of co-inoculation, as seedlings were 23% taller. On the other hand, an efficiency of 40% of the nitrogen fertilizer application was observed, which did not affect the nutritional condition of the plants nor the agricultural yield. The co-inoculation stimulated the population of both microorganisms at the rhizosphere of the crop.. |
