Abstracts |
Vesicular arbuscular mycorrhizal (VAM) associations with plants are attributed to the growth promoting aspects. Plant growth is mainly due to nutrient acquisition from soil, water uptake, growth promoting substance and biological control of soilborne pathogens. The nematode control may be through improved vigour, physiological alteration of root exudates or through the direct role of mycorrhiza in retarding the development and reproduction of nematode within root tissues. In an integrated management of nematodes (i.e. Heterodera spp. and Meloidogyne spp.) the compatibility of VAM (i.e. Glomus spp.) with other biocides and nematicides are also discussed. |
