A field experiment was carried out during 2 years to study the effects of applying a pelletized biofertilizer containing arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungal propagules on forage production and arbuscular mycorrhiza formation in a sown meadow in a Quercus/Betula forest under the following treatments: control, NPK mineral fertilization and dairy sludge application. In the spring when silage cuts were made, the highest forage yield was achieved under the dairy sludge treatment. The biofertilizer did not affect forage production in any treatment in the first year, but increased yields in the dairy sludge plots in the second. Colonization of roots by AM fungi was high in all treatments and was not affected by AM pellets. |
